Lighting renovation at Jyskä School
Jyskä School achieved a refreshed interior appearance through a lighting renovation. In lobbies and corridors, low-profile recessed Plata luminaires were selected for suspended ceiling systems, along with round Flat panel luminaires installed into a lowered enclosure.

Jyskä is home to a traditional primary school and a daycare centre. The oldest part of the building was completed in 1948 and has been extended twice, in 1962 and 1991.
During the renovation of the school premises, the lighting was fully upgraded to meet modern safety and energy efficiency requirements.
Safety through lighting
During the renovation, part of the existing luminaires were simply replaced with modern LED luminaires that provide abundant, clean white light. As is typical in renovation projects, certain constraints existed, such as cut-out sizes and installation methods.
Adequate and glare-free lighting in corridors and staircases is an important safety factor, as these spaces can become congested and also function as escape routes.
Plata ja Flat
In lobbies and learning areas, low-profile 4000 K Plata luminaires were recessed into the suspended ceiling system.
In addition, round recessed Flat panel luminaires were installed on the underside of the lowered structures in corridors.
Lighting enhances spatial perception
Rectangular Dora luminaires in the lobby highlight the vertical lines of the space and enhance the sense of openness in the already high area. Dora is finished with a polyester coating that offers excellent resistance to corrosion and UV radiation, making it suitable also for outdoor use.
Plant lamps
In the lobby wall luminaires, the light sources were replaced with E27 plant lamps, whose spectrum is tailored to the wavelengths required by plants. The LED plant lamp effectively promotes photosynthesis and provides an aesthetically pleasing solution without unnecessarily heating the plant.
Optimisation with Dialux calculations
A Dialux calculation was carried out for the sports hall to ensure optimal lighting levels. The Sport luminaire, which meets the requirements for sports facilities, was selected for the space, providing high-quality and uniform light. The steel-framed Sport luminaires are well suited for surface mounting in renovation projects. The luminaire features a gloss anodised aluminium reflector.
