Energy savings for fire station with LED lighting
Airam carried out lighting calculations for the renovation of Vantaa joint fire station and delivered new luminaires to the site. A total of 500 luminaires replaced the joint fire station’s outdated lighting stock. Fluorescent luminaires were replaced with Airam’s energy-efficient LED luminaires with Casambi control, and conventional light sources were replaced with LED lamps. These measures achieved up to 70 per cent energy savings.

HK130 ensures airport safety
Helsinki-Vantaa joint fire station HK130 is designed to ensure the safety of the airport and its surroundings. The fire station is located in the airport area so that it can provide rapid assistance in all emergency situations.
Good lighting also enhances fire station operations, and the outdated lighting stock was fully renewed as part of the renovation. The proposal based on Airam’s lighting calculation was implemented in December 2024. As planned, all luminaires in halls and corridors are Casambi-controlled LED luminaires.

Lighting tailored to requirements
To ensure optimal lighting, the spaces were surveyed before the renovation, and soon after installation Airam’s specialists met with the users of the premises. At the meeting, feedback and wishes regarding lighting control needs were discussed with fire station staff. Based on the feedback, fine-tuning was carried out: the lighting levels of some areas were adjusted and the on-times of motion sensors were modified.
Energy savings with Casambi control
Nopea ohjelmointi on Casambi-ohjauksen etu; muutostyöt ovat nopeita ja joustavia ja valotasot ovat säädettävissä portaattomasti. Airam toimitti pelastusasemalle myös helposti asennettavat, laajan tunnistusalueen Casambi-tunnistimet, joita on tiloissa yli 30 kappaletta. Vanha valaistus oli aina päällä ja uusien tunnistimien ansiosta valot on päällä vain silloin kun tiloissa on toimintaa. Valaisinkannan uusimisella Casambi-ohjattaviin led-valaisimiin saavutettiin hyvin nopealla aikataululla jopa 70 prosentin energiansäästö.

Futura Nano PC
Airam’s IP65-rated Futura Nano PC models were installed in the equipment and workshop hall. “The 25 cm adjustment range of Futura Nano brackets makes installation easier. The range of movement reduces the need for precise positioning and the luminaire can be installed quickly and smoothly in place,” commented the site’s electrical installer. Futura Nano also has a removable optical film that can be removed to increase light output in places where glare is less important.
Futura RST
Futura RST was chosen as the luminaire for the wash hall. The RST model withstands chemicals used in wash facilities and is also IP65 rated.

The rescue personnel changing rooms are lit with Keto Pro equipped with a sensor
Lumino
The modern general luminaire Lumino was chosen for the corridor in the staff social spaces. Some Lumino units are equipped with a sensor that controls the lighting groups in the space.
Compact XL
Compact XL was chosen as the general lighting for the fire station kitchen; it is a versatile downlight and is particularly suitable in size as a replacement for old mercury-vapour downlights. Office spaces are lit by Vario series models, with asymmetric light distribution versions tailored for notice boards.
