Modern lighting for a wholesale store from Airam’s range
Ahlsell’s store in Jyväskylä moved to new premises at the beginning of 2025. In connection with the relocation, the lighting was to be improved to become more efficient and energy-saving. The long-standing cooperation between Airam and Ahlsell provided a strong foundation for launching the project. The decisions were supported by Airam’s fast delivery times, flexible customization possibilities, and domestic production including products awarded the Finnish Key Flag Symbol.
Lighting calculations were carried out by Airam’s team, and based on the results, the most suitable solutions were selected for each space. Based on the proposals, the Marketta luminaire, manufactured at Airam’s Lahti factory, was chosen for the store premises. Marketta was a natural choice, as this luminaire series designed for commercial spaces combines cost-efficiency with energy efficiency.
Customized solutions
For customer break areas, a surface-mounted Puck luminaire with a diameter of 610 mm was installed. The luminaire was customized by painting it according to Ahlsell’s own color chart. The blue color of the luminaire adds a fresh detail to the store environment and supports the brand image. Casambi control gear was installed in the Plano Pro models used in the office rooms. For the corridors, the Plata modular luminaire was selected thanks to its excellent price-performance ratio.
Improved user comfort with lighting control
The new premises were taken into use in spring 2025. The well-lit environment has received positive attention from customers, and finding products has become easier. Store staff are satisfied with the lighting in the office areas. Special praise has been given to the controllability of the office lighting and the ability to adjust lighting scenes when needed. The sales team has also noticed changes in customer behavior and comfort depending on the lighting settings.
The Plano Pro panel luminaire installed in the office areas was equipped with the wireless Casambi system, which has proven to be a practical solution for controlling lighting in individual offices and meeting rooms. The premises are equipped with motion sensors that improve user comfort. The sensors also reduce unnecessary lighting usage, helping to save energy and extend product lifetime.
Smooth and efficient cooperation ensures success
The design work carried out by Airam’s lighting calculation team and the support from Airam’s product specialists have played an important role in the lighting design. Airam’s own production ensures flexible delivery times. Customization can always be carried out according to the customer’s needs.
Installers have praised the easy installation of the luminaires as the work progressed, and feedback was collected throughout the project. To facilitate installation, the product wiring was modified according to the contractor’s requests. For Airam, feedback is important from a product development perspective. Active communication with the customer enables smooth cooperation and flexible progress throughout the project.
